2-day mountaineering in the Kamnik Alps - Aug 29-30, 2014
After a cold and rainy summer, the forecast finally said two sunny days in a row, so I headed for the mountains. On the first day, I climbed Mt. Velika Baba from Jezersko, descended to Kranjska koča na Ledinah hut and spent the night there. The second day, via ferrata took me climbing the almost vertical rock face of Mt. Koroška Rinka. After enjoying the views for a while I conquered the nearby Mt. Kranjska Rinka, then headed towards Mt. Turska gora. Getting to the Kamniško sedlo saddle involved getting across the craggy Kotliči section, where I escaped falling rocks by a meter or so. The mountain tops were getting enveloped in fog, and after a hearty lunch in the hut, the slow and painful (for knees and soles!) descent into the Kamniška Bistrica valley began.
